# Rethinking outpatient surgical care: Oath

In a town that rethought the primary care experience with Zoom Care and urgent pediatric care experience with Brave Care, it stands to reason that [Oath](https://oathsurgical.com/) — a company focused on improving the experience for outpatient surgical care — would have a Portland footprint.

> We believe that people deserve to be in control of their journey towards better health. We support our patients by connecting them with best-in-class providers, providing relevant and transparent information about their care, and delivering high quality experiences and outcomes. At our core, we facilitate access to a network of high performance surgeons for safe, complex procedures in premium, well-managed outpatient surgical centers.

I just sort of stumbled upon Oath. They [came out of stealth](https://ascnews.com/2025/05/oath-surgical-launches-ai-powered-asc-model-with-national-expansion-in-sight/) a few months back. They’ve raised about $10 million in venture capital. And I’m thinking that they definitely one I’ll be keeping an eye on.

“We are unique in terms of bringing those elements together and creating a platform for outpatient surgery that is partnered with surgeons, as we’re looking to grow their career and their practice, providing tools and technologies,” [said founder and CEO Oliver Keown](https://globalventuring.com/corporate/europe/intuitive-surgical-keown-startup-outpatient-surgery/).
