# Call me nostalgic, but a meet up at a food cart pod always makes me happy

But this time, it’s at a brand new pod built on the remnants of Mexican restaurant I used to frequent, back in the day. So it’s doubly nostalgic. That’s right. The [Portland Office of Small Business is holding another “Show up for small business” event](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/show-up-for-small-business-tickets-1458862750759). And this time, it’s in southeast at the Brooklyn Caretta Food Carts.

> The idea is simple: We pick the spot. You support the businesses.
>
> Every month, we’ll choose a different neighborhood or business district. Then, it’s up to you to show up and do your part by shopping, grabbing a beverage, or dining at the small businesses in that area. No agenda. No speeches. Just all of us celebrating the amazing small businesses that make Portland unique.
>
> This month we will head to the [Brooklyn Carreta](https://brooklyncarreta.com/) cart pod in SE Portland. Brooklyn Carreta features a lineup of exceptional food carts, offering everything from sushi burritos to hot chicken sandwiches, and their bar offers a rotating selection of handcrafted cocktails, local craft beers, and non-alcoholic options.

Not much to do shopping wise around there. I mean, unless you want to duck into Milwaukie Market or mosey down the street to the [Record Pub](https://therecordpub.com/) for some LPs. But there are plenty of carts and beverages from which to choose.

The event takes place July 30, 2025, starting at 5:00PM at the Brooklyn Carreta cart pod.
