For many startup communities, college students — and university research projects — can be a source of both inspiration and innovation that drives startup activity. Now, TiE Oregon is striving to bring more recognition to this important startup pipeline with a new pitch competition, the [TiE Collegiate Startup Challenge](https://www.tieoregon.org/pitch-oregon/collegiate-startup-challenge).

> The TiE Collegiate Startup Challenge is a new, statewide pitch competition for **Oregon and SW Washington college and university entrepreneurs**—including students, faculty, and alumni—who are ready to showcase their startups and gain exposure.
>
> Companies compete for equity investments, cash prizes, as well as in-kind services provided by local businesses. Additionally, the event offers a great opportunity to increase the visibility of the businesses to both investors and the general public.

What sorts of projects are eligible? Traded sector technology from student-founded startups, university spinouts launching innovative products, and new ventures scaling new technologies coming out of the university system.
