# Oregon Startup Center reboots under new leadership

One of my favorite things about the Portland startup community is the number of organizations that are focused on helping entrepreneurs. But that doesn’t mean that those organizations aren’t in need of a refresh from time to time. And there’s no better time to make those changes than when new leadership enters the picture. Which is exactly what happened with the [Oregon Startup Center](https://oregonstartupcenter.org/).

[According to the Portland Business Journal](https://www.bizjournals.com/portland/inno/stories/news/2025/10/21/new-leader-oregon-startup-center-jim-chi.html):

> Executive Director Jim Chi aims to make the Center the go-to resource for entrepreneurs, for both for-profit and non-profit ventures, on Portland’s west side.
>
> Chi, an active angel investor and seasoned product management executive, took over the OSC role on April 1 [following the retirement](https://www.bizjournals.com/portland/inno/stories/news/2025/01/24/oregon-startup-center-jim-mccreight-retires.html) of Jim McCreight. In addition to this role, Chi is [president of the angel investor network](https://www.bizjournals.com/portland/inno/stories/news/2024/01/29/oregon-sports-angels-investment-new-president.html) Oregon Sports Angels, which led him to OSC.

“So, the message to the greater community here is that if you ever wanted to try something entrepreneurial, we’re here for you. And also, we want you to stay,” he said. “We don’t want you to just launch it and then feel like you have to move somewhere else in the country that will be able to grow this. We want to be able to do that.”
