Made in Portland: Your one stop resource for PDX built beer, bikes, coffee, and Web startups

It’s no secret that Portland, Oregon, has a lot of awesome stuff going on around here. And not just in the startup scene. You live here. You know that. But what’s almost a secret is exactly what’s happening here. I mean, for all the things at which we excel, tooting our own horn is not one of them.

But now, there’s a resource that can help. Inspired by the Internet Made in New York City listing, some local folks have put together Made in Portland.

To outsiders, Portland can seem wild, like a band of rebels who’ve given up on the popular notions of success and conformity. And while that’s true, the people who live here know that it’s also a place of hard work, bruises, and sweat; a place where being yourself and pursuing your vision isn’t derided—it’s encouraged.

This website is dedicated to Portland’s do-it-yourself ethic. Because Portland isn’t just a place where people dream of the future over warm cups of coffee; it’s a place where they go out and build it.

The site currently lists a smattering of beer, bikes, coffee, and Web startups. All which are made in Portland. Or at least 50% of the company exists here.

But they could always use more. Why aren’t you on there? All it takes is dropping a note to contact@madeinportland.org and linking to Made in Portland.

Easy peasy. And a great showcase for what Portland is doing. And—of course—a great site to visit as you’re doing your holiday shopping.
