While more and more states are legislating for pay transparency to ensure that job posts list the salary range for the advertised position, it’s still a far cry from complete adoption of the concept — especially around here. That’s why Intersectional Group creates an annual “Pay Transparency Report,” to keep tabs on the progress and advocate for the adoption of this practice in the Portland area.
The 2024 Pay Transparency Report: Pay Stories from the Portland Metro Area was informed by interviews with Portland Metro Area adults that are current or previous members of the workforce. Participants were interviewed by Intersectional Group and were recruited by Intersectional Group’s email list, broadly-distributed posts, and on social messaging platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, and Slack. Participants’ names and identities were included only with permission. The 17 interviews that serve as a basis for this report were conducted between November 2023 and April 2024.
