It only stands to reason that a region with a rich and storied history of thinking about backpacks — JanSport and Dakine immediately jump to mind — would be home to a modern-day, innovative rethinking of the backpack. PitchBlack-alum Pacmodo is doing just that by rethinking the way we use — and ideally reuse now — the common backpack.
The Pacmodo backpack is designed to be modular so it can grow or shrink based on a person’s needs. There is a component with the straps that can zip onto three different sized packs. Each piece can be replaced and used components are meant to be refurbished and resold, cofounder and Nike-alum David Ngene told Portland Business Journal.
At the time of this writing, the project is basically funded. So if you’re interested in grabbing a new backpack that’s able to change and transform depending on your needs, you’ll want to kick in for a discounted pack.
Best of all? Once you’ve set the straps, you’re set for life. Or am I the only one who takes months, if not years, to get the straps on my packs just so?
