Tired of startup activities that center around depressants? Try these caffeinated confabs

The culture around alcohol is changing. And the startup community is changing along with it. What used to be wholly focused on events involving happy hours and alcohol has continued to evolve into a wide range of activities. At the foundation, they’re very much the same: a way to create connection in the community. But these days, that connection can come without the pretense of inebriation.

Two stimulant focused events here in Portland are doing just that. And as luck would have it, they’re both domain names. So they’re easy to remember:

CafeDev.org

An initiative for developers to come back to local meetups IRL and to break habits that have been created as a result of the pandemic. Social isolation is not healthy and meeting up at pubs and bars for networking is not always great either. We wanted to create a healthier and sustainable group and provide a space for creative minds. (Every Monday and Wednesday 10:00AM – 1:00PM at Coffee Time)

founder.coffee

This meetup is focused on meeting other entrepreneurs and talking about the challenges we all face. Starting a business is challenging. There are so many pitfalls and road blocks. We’ve all gone through them. It’s great to interact with people that have gone through them and know how to deal with it. This is a great way to relate and advise one another about how to grow Portland’s incredible startup scene. Be prepared to bring your business cards and network with a great locals who are doing remarkable things. No pressure. Just good coffee and good conversations. (Next event is September 24, 2024 at 9:00AM. Follow the Meetup page for regularly scheduled events.)
