Portland pop-ups. They’re a thing. But they’re often a hard to find sort of thing. Sometimes they, ahem, pop up on social media. Sometimes they’re just word of mouth. Every once in a while, they have a full on marketing campaign. But whatever the case, for a town that loves pop ups, they should be easier to find. And that’s why there’s Pop-ups Please.
Pop-ups Please is born from the heart of Portland, crafted by Walk In LLC — a tight-knit crew inspired by our city’s rad, innovative vibe. What kicked off as an experimental space for pop-up gallery shows, dinners, and parties has now evolved into an app that turns any spot into a pop-up, making it easy for anyone to find out about it.
Relying solely on social media and word of mouth isn’t enough for small pop-up businesses. That’s where Pop-ups Please steps in. Our goal? To build a community-driven platform that effortlessly connects people to the amazing, spontaneous events happening in every corner of the city.
It’s one of those brilliant startup concepts where you immediately go, “Why doesn’t this already exist…?” Right? Well now it does.
“We just want to be able to bring more awareness to all the cool people doing cool shit and creating the culture in Portland,” Xóchitl Jaime-Aguirre, who consults on the project, told Eater.
The app is currently in closed beta. You can sign up to join, if you’re interested in test driving it ahead of launch. And speaking of “launch”… a launch party will be held November 9, 2024 — as noted on Instagram.
