Orca acquires Opus

While it’s common for acquisitions to involve Portland startups, more often than not, a Portland startup tends to be the acquired entity rather than the acquirer. But this time, it’s Portland startup Orca Security that is acquiring New York startup Opus.

Today, I am proud to share that Orca Security continues its mission to enable organizations to thrive securely in the cloud with the acquisition of Opus, the pioneer in agentic AI-powered cloud security remediation and prevention. The time is now for delivering autonomous remediation and prevention to CNAPP using agentic AI.

When did Orca Security become a Portland startup? According to Portland Business Journal:

Orca, which moved its headquarters from the Bay Area to Portland in December 2021, makes security software for cloud infrastructure. The company developed a new way to secure enterprise cloud infrastructure that it says reduces the complexity and the time it takes to secure environments. The Orca platform evaluates cloud configuration, then identifies and prioritizes risk areas.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
