Now, I realize that not everyone manages multiple social bookmark accounts. But I know some of you do. You’ve got two or three Delicious accounts. Maybe one for personal stuff and one for the blog. Or maybe you had to add another account when you resurrected your Ma.gnolia links. Whatever the case, managing those multiple accounts can get to be a bit of a headache.
And even if you don’t have multiple accounts, there are issues. Like having tons of bookmarks through which to search. Surely that could be made a tad easier?
Now, it can be. Thanks to Pukka, a Mac-based application built by Justin Miller of Portland-based Code Sorcery Workshop.
I just started using it last week. And honestly? I’m already enamored of Pukka. It’s changed my social bookmarking activity as much as MarsEdit has changed by blogging. Funny how installed apps can change your Web behavior.
Pukka is easy, straightforward, and, well, it just works. And you’ve got to love an app that lets you launch it from a bookmarklet. Especially when—unlike bookmarklets for Delicious (I use Camino, so sue me)—the Pukka bookmarklet works flawlessly. Just like the Delicious addin on Firefox.
But with search, I’m loving Pukka all the more. And as it turns out, I’m not the only one.
Search is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. But Pukka is such a lightweight app that I thought long and hard about how to best introduce the feature while keeping Pukka seeming fast and unobtrusive as people have come to expect. The easy route would have been another window or sidebar, but I feel that the new search bar really keeps the application tight and focused. As one beta tester said, “The response and animation on the search menu is very slick. It feels very light and nimble. Well done.”
And when you need to post to another of your Delicious accounts? No problem. Just grab the dropdown and pick the right account before you submit. Voila!
Yes, I think Pukka is cool. But don’t just take my word for it. There are tons of other folks—like Leo Laporte, Paul Staminou, and Lifehacker—who think it’s pretty cool, too.
Whether you’re a bookmarking fiend or you’ve never bookmarked anything in your life, give Pukka a try. It’s sure to change your social bookmarking skills for the better.

Steven, Sorry. I never thought of that angle. But yes, there is a local cache.
I just turned off my connection and was able to search through all of my bookmarks, including titles, descriptions, and tags. I was not, however, able to edit the cached information. I could only view it (via rollover).
I guess I’m still not clear (after reading their site too) on whether this is just access to my bookmarks outside the browser, or if it stores a backup or gives me offline access as well. I’d definitely pay for offline Delicious access, even though I only have the one account.
