There’s no question that getting selected for a TechStars program can be a huge advantage for founders and their startups. But what about talented folks who don’t have a current project or people who are just curious about how the program runs?
Well, as luck would have it, TechStars has roles for those folks, too. And that means you could have the opportunity to work with Nike and TechStars on the Nike+ Accelerator and with the awesome startups they’ve selected.
If you’re a developer who isn’t currently engaged as a founder, you might think about applying to be a Hackstar.
The TechStars companies always need more technical skill to help them do more faster during the program. Hackstars are highly-skilled software developers and designers that would love to work with the companies and go through the TechStars program. Plus, you get paid for the program (just like the founders) and most HackStars ultimately land a job or co-founder status with one of the startups. What a great way to hack into TechStars!
What’s more, Hackstars get a $6000 stipend for participating in the program.
Hacking not your speed? Then you might consider becoming a TechStars Associate.
Tasks will include assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Techstars program, and engaging with and assisting the companies in any areas of need. This can include marketing, business development work, research, and providing regular content (blog posts and photos) to social media manager. Examples of responsibilities: Helping the companies with anything, identifying needs and preparing for upcoming events, organizing meetings and running logistics for special guest mentor visits, taking meeting notes, and setting up office space for events. Associate will report to the program manager and managing director. Please note that this internship position pays in opportunities and connections and not monetarily.
Word around the campfire is that the Nike+ Accelerator still has a few spots open for both roles. So if you want to work your way into TechStars.
