Continuing the momentum: Portland Startup Weekend Latino takes place June 24-26, 2016

Much to its credit, Portland is really good at starting things. At trying new stuff. And at leveraging its culture of curiosity and experimentation in ways that result in really interesting concepts. What it’s not often good at is doing something for a second time. And that’s why it’s awesome to see Portland Startup Weekend Latino capitalizing on its momentum from last year to run the for a second year.

Not familiar with the Startup Weekend concept? Well, let’s get you familiar.

Startup Weekends are 54-hour events designed to provide superior experiential education for technical and non-technical entrepreneurs. Beginning with Friday night pitches and continuing through brainstorming, business plan development, and basic prototype creation, Startup Weekends culminate in Sunday night demos and presentations. Participants create working startups during the event and are able to collaborate with like-minded individuals outside of their daily networks. All teams hear talks by industry leaders and receive valuable feedback from local entrepreneur. The weekend is centered around action, innovation, and education. Whether you are looking for feedback on a idea, a co-founder, specific skill sets, or a team to help you execute, Startup Weekends are the perfect environment in which to test your idea and take the first steps towards launching your own startup.

Sounds awesome, right? And this version of Portland Startup Weekend is even better. Given that it’s designed specifically to create an environment that makes Latino founders—and would be founders—more comfortable pursuing their ideas. Best of all? Anyone and everyone is more than welcome to attend, whether they’re of Latino decent or not.

Long story short, it’s a great way of making connections all over the Portland startup ecosystem.

The event will be held June 24-26, 2016, at the Portland State Business Accelerator. Tickets are available for a cost of $38. If you’d just like to attend the demos at the end, you can purchase a ticket to attend for $28.00
