Even if you haven’t been online in the past few months, you’ve no doubt heard about what’s happening at Twitter. I mean, it’s hard to avoid it. Even if you’re trying to avoid it. It still permeates the most random conversations.
Well, today, I happened upon a very local angle to the whole story. So I thought I’d share. It’s a story in The New York Times about a former Twitter employee who lives here in Portland.
Meet Portland software engineer Sasha Solomon in “She Worked for Twitter. Then She Tweeted at Elon Musk.”
In October 2020, she and her husband, Mike Solomon, who also worked at Twitter, got permission to work remotely and moved to Portland from San Francisco. Earlier this year, she said, she was promoted to manager, a role that put her in charge of about 10 engineers. “I had a lot of opportunities to grow,” Ms. Solomon said.
As an added bonus, I learned that there’s a Mastodon instance for former Twitter folks. So if that’s you, maybe consider joining that.
