Jive cofounder launches new AI enabled healthcare startup

For many of us, Jive was the epoch defining company of the startup community we have in Portland — and throughout the state — today. Jive thought big. They attracted capital from well-known venture capital firms like Sequoia and Kleiner Perkins. They attracted a ton of super talented folks. They grew rapidly and made acquisitions. And eventually, they went public. All proving that a company growing in the Portland area had the potential to do all of those things. So forgive me if I’m a wee bit twitterpated by the fact that Jive cofounder Bill Lynch is re-entering the startup world.

Summarizing the initial copy on their website, the new company is looking to leverage AI to decrypt the often confusing world of healthcare:

Bridging the gap between complex scientific information and the everyday understanding of patients.

In a world where health literacy can mean the difference between uncertainty and empowerment, we believe that everyone deserves the clarity and confidence to make informed health decisions.

And Bill isn’t the only one with startup experience on the founding team. According to the Portland Business Journal:

The new company is called HumanTrue and Lynch is chief technology officer. He is working with CEO Joan Severson, who is a college friend and also an exited founder. Severson co-founded the digital agency Digital Artefacts in 2000 and sold it to Clinical Ink, a clinical trial data and technology company, in 2021.

The company is still in the development stage, but as always, serial founders in our community are always worth watching.
