Oregon UAS Accelerator names new executive director

While we’ve had a bunch of accelerator activity — off and on — in the Portland area for years, it’s amazing to see these sorts of efforts taking hold throughout the state. One of the new and most interesting accelerators in that regard is the Oregon Unmanned Aerial Systems Accelerator out in Pendleton — the drone one. They recently announced their first application period. And now they’ve announced a new executive director to guide the program, Joseph Wyno.

Joseph Wyno previously served as a senior advisor and director for Octane’s LaunchPad small business development center accelerator, “one of the nation’s top nonprofit tech accelerators,” according to an Oregon UAS Accelerator news release.

“I started out as a startup myself,” Joseph told the East Oregonian. “So I know exactly what it’s like to experience the peaks and valleys of success and failure in the startup world. I think that’s of tremendous value to the startups that are coming through this program, because I kind of see things through their eyes.”
