What began its life as the Portland Independent Chamber of Commerce (PICOC) and then changed to Business for a Better Portland has changed its identity once again. This time opting for the more simple and straightforward Better Portland, a new identity which was launched at Autodesk’s Portland office on the evening of Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
But it’s not just the name of the organization that’s shifting. It’s positioning, focus, and identity have received a bit of a glow up, as well.

You’re in good company, Portland. Our network gets you a foot in the door and then some. We connect businesses, non-profits, and organizations into a like-spirited collective with events, content, and a business-meets-social networking kind of culture. Best of all, everyone’s influence and expertise is a shared commodity. Welcome to business done better.
“Simply put, Better Portland is not just the ‘alternative’ business chamber in Portland,” said Peter Platt, founder and owner of Andina. “But the only one which directly serves the needs of both small and large businesses alike by representing our interest in the public goods and policies that benefit us all, not just the selective few.”
The membership-driven organization encourages new members — all private sector, public sector, or nonprofit organizations operating within the Portland Metro region are welcome — to apply, starting at $600/year.
The rebrand also brings with it a new website, a new Instagram handle, and a new LinkedIn page.

[Full disclosure: PIE was a founding member of the organization and it remains a member to this day. I am the cofounder and general manager of PIE.]
