I always love startups that come from a pain point that the founders experienced firsthand. Like the inspiration for Disputed.ai, a Portland startup that leverages AI to help folks manage the disputed charge problem. Turns out I’m not the only one. Disputed.ai just raised $1.1 million.
Called Disputed.ai it is founded by CEO Shawn Kelley and Chief Technology Officer Andrew Hart. The software is designed to analyze what are called chargebacks, which is the process companies follow when there is a disputed charge.
Examples of this include a credit card holder with a fraud charge who reports it to their card issuer, which then disputes the charge with the merchant where it was made, Kelley said. Another would be someone who doesn’t receive a ticket or item they purchased who disputes the charge.
