Sometimes, the modern day AI world reminds me an awful lot of the early days of the Web and search engines. Where we are all trying to get Alta Vista and Excite and Lycos to at least spider our sites so that we had some chance of appearing in their results. Or begging the curator of some Yahoo! section to make sure that you had a link. Now, it’s the same thing. With Claude and ChatGPT and Gemini and Perplexity. And… and… and…. But even more opaque. Because this isn’t some simple — or Boolean — search.
What is a startup to do…?
Well, this may help. Kari Doherty has developed a way for you to keep an eye on what your favorite LLMs are saying about you. Or your company. Or your competitors.

It’s called Kariops Pulse, and it does close to the same thing that tool does. It scans how you show up across the major AI engines, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity. It tells you what they’re saying about you, and whether it’s accurate. Then it drafts the exact copy you should add to your site and your content to start showing up in those answers. You run it once a month and watch what moves.
You’ll notice Google’s AI Overviews aren’t in that lineup. That’s on purpose, not an oversight. You can’t reliably get one to show up, so there’s nothing steady to track month to month, and they have a real habit of saying wrong things with total confidence. Not forgotten. Just not something I’d want you building your visibility on yet.
It takes a little wrangling to get it set up. So if you’re comfortable with that, go for it. But if you need a little help, Kari is happy to spend a few minutes with you to get everything configured.
