Oregon Startup Center launches Nonprofit Incubator under Mark Lewis

I’m always a fan of more support structure for entrepreneurs in the region. That’s why I was happy to see the new Oregon Startup Center Nonprofit Incubator coming to fruition. Just as compelling…? An entrepreneur has stepped up to lead the organization. Mark Lewis has taken the helm.

With an undergraduate degree from Caltech and a Master’s Degree in Education, Mark brings over 30 years of experience in community development, education, and organizational growth. His nontraditional career path has led from his first job as a satellite “systems engineer” and launch operations specialist, to teaching high school science and math, to serving as Oregon’s policy director for STEM education, and to starting his own business. Additional professional experiences include more than 10 years with the US Peace Corps leading community development programs in the South Pacific and the Middle East.

A lifelong educator, tinkerer, and advocate for youth, Mark has a passion for the critical roles that education, culture, and community have in shaping individuals and society. A primary source of joy for him is being a father and stepfather to four incredible individuals who continue to inspire him to be a better human.

[Full disclosure: Mark Lewis is a PIE alum. I am the cofounder and general manager of PIE.]
