Portland startup Finnegan the Dragon rebrands as Prelude Early Learning

Startup naming is a fine art. Often, a dark art. But sometimes you start one place and then realize you need to be in another. Both as a business and as what you call that business. So while I loved the memorable nature of “Finnegan the Dragon,” I totally get why they would need to shift. Meet Prelude Early Learning.

At Prelude Early Learning, we envision a future where every child starts kindergarten with the essential skills for lifelong academic success. We are dedicated to empowering teachers, caregivers and parents with tools that support a child’s overall brain development through engaging, play-based experiences. By harnessing the science of pre-reading, the power of music, and the wonder of play, we aim to transform the approach of early childhood teaching and learning. Our mission is to nurture a love for learning and foster vibrant language development for every child.

Admittedly, the brand manager in me loves the musical nod, knowing that music was a critical part of the founder’s life and recovery.

[Full disclosure: Finnegan the Dragon was a PIE alum. I am the cofounder and general manager of PIE.]
