When I first started working in local startups — like last century — so much of the activity occurred out in Hillsboro and Beaverton. With the advent of cloud infrastructure and the declining need for significant office space, the momentum of the startup community moved into Portland proper. These days? The energy is everywhere. And so are the support organizations.
Like the Oregon Startup Center in Beaverton which has just opened applications for the 2026 Beaverton Startup Challenge.
The Challenge is an annual funding competition designed to identify and invest in promising, scalable startups ready to take their next step. Operated by the Oregon Startup Center (OSC) in partnership with the City of Beaverton and the Westside Startup Fund, the Challenge provides capital, mentorship, targeted support and services to help establish traction and prepare for the next stage of investment.
For many founders, The Challenge represents their first institutional investment, unlocking credibility, momentum and access to further capital.
Applications are open until March 27, 2026.
