Remember Encyclopedia Brown? He was this kid detective who could always figure out random stuff using random clues? He was kind of like the MacGyver of the youth sleuth scene.
Well we had a little bit of a mystery going on ourselves tonight in the world of the Portland, Oregon, social media scene that needed some solving:
Who had taken home the honors from the Social Media Awards—the coveted SoMe Awards?
Well, I’m not as smart as Encyclopedia Brown or MacGyver. But I can use Twitter search. So I stepped up to the challenge.
And, even though the SoMe Awards Twitter account is being a little tight-lipped about the subject…
… and the Social Media Club of Portland folks who hosted the event were understandably wiped out, I’ve done my damnedest due diligence to deduce the list of winners from the nominees for the SoMe awards.
And I think I managed to figure it out. So, without further ado, the winners are:
Bloviater
House Party
Next big thing
Twitalyzer – Web Analytics Demystified
Waggener Edstrom Worldwide – Twendz
Scrappy
LiP Service and Big DealPR
Sugar Daddy
Wildcard
Supporting Characters – Carri Bugbee
Bearing in mind, of course, that none of these assumptions are finalized until verified by… Oh I don’t know, someone.
Substance is already prepping for next year. And they’re clearly planning to be the social media experts with which to be reckoned. I’m predicting a sweep.
Now, only one question remains: Who served as part of the secret cabal (as opposed to a public cabal?) of judges who bestowed these social media honors upon the recipients?
That remains to be seen.
