We’re drawing near to the end of three days of open source awesomeness, thanks to Open Source Bridge, the first ever entirely volunteer run open source conference. It’s been an amazing event. And now, it’s time to celebrate what we were able to accomplish.
Why the sad face? You’re invited!
That’s right. The Open Source Bridge after party is open to all of the folks in Portland. So come out and join the people from the conference, our gracious hosts, and all of our volunteers for a beer or two.
Apparently, there has been some confusion about what to do where when. So I’m going to try to clear it up with a little choose your own adventure after party guide.
So let’s get started, shall we?
A) Do you live in Portland?
If you answered no, go to “C.”
B) Beer and Blog, Green Dragon: 4 PM
Hello fellow Portlander! You have a couple of choices at 4 PM. Fret not! Both of these options contain beer. But only one of them has FREE BEER.
So here are your choices:
You can either head over to Green Dragon for Beer and Blog and hang out with the awesome folks who are there to bring their dogs and listen to information about career transitions while paying for their beer.
Or, you can choose to go to…
C) Beer and Blog, Webtrends: 4 PM
The Open Source Bridge types will be heading to Webtrends around 4 PM to partake in free beer and hang out with the folks who helped organize and run the conference.
A fun time we’ll be had by all. No learning opportunities to speak of, but again, the beer is free.
D) Beer and Blog, Webtrends, cont’d: 6 PM
Are you already at Webtrends? If yes, stay there and begin reading “E.” If not, continue reading.
At around 6 PM the folks who are still at the Green Dragon are invited to migrate over to Webtrends for free beer. And of course to hang out with the folks who arranged and attended Open Source Bridge.
This will be a great chance for the Portland tech crowd to meet the open source types who have come to town for the conference.
But drink that free beer quickly because you’ll soon be off to…
E) The Square with Wil Wheaton and Steph Stricklen: 7 PM
While we weren’t successful in our pleas to get Wil Wheaton to swing by Open Source Bridge (no hard feelings), our friends over at KGW The Square managed to flex their media muscle, convincing him spend some time on the show.
But wait, there’s more. Stephanie Stricklen—our favorite anchor on The Square currently on maternity leave—has mentioned that she may show up at The Square as well.
What’s that mean? That’s right. Field trip.
We’ll be leaving Webtrends at around 7 PM, en masse. To go stand—Today show style—outside The Square’s studio window. The more, the merrier.
And finally, after The Square wraps, we’ll all head up for…
F) Strange Love Live: All afterhours, all the time, OSBridge hacker lounge, 8-ish PM
We’ll end the evening in the hacker lounge on the top of the Hilton, geeking out and listening to the live recording of Strange Love Live, the best podcast in Portland, if not the world.
And you can even make it on the show.
But here’s the thing: it’s all afterhours. Which means the conversations will try to be about anything but tech.
G) Revel in the awesomeness
Phew. Get it? Got it? Good.
We look forward to seeing you tonight. Somewhere. (But if you’re looking for me, I’ll be near the free beer.)
