I’m a bit tardy posting this, but ideally, you’re already RSVP’ed and counting the minutes until this Wednesday’s Lunch 2.0 at AboutUs.
If you’re just waking up from a long nap or you’ve simply forgotten, make plans now to be at AboutUs on Wednesday from 12-2 for Lunch.
And not just any Lunch 2.0, but the second birthday of our own little Portland Lunch 2.0 chapter.
AboutUs hosted the very first Portland Lunch 2.0 on February 27, 2008, and at the time, I didn’t know what to expect or if this would catch on here in Portland.
I’d been to one in the Bay Area, and I knew there were other chapters in other cities. Still, you never know how many businesses will want to invite the community into their offices for free lunch.
Frankly, Lunch 2.0 here in Portland might never have got off the ground at all if Dawn Foster (@geekygirldawn) hadn’t introduced me to Ray King (@Rathbone), and Ray hadn’t seen the value.
There’s no telling how hard I would have tried to make it work otherwise. Seriously.
But thanks to Dawn, Ray and the crew at AboutUs, we did get the ball rolling, and they’ve helped keep it rolling, not once, not twice, but three times.
So, thank you AboutUs. I would suggest hugs when you see them on Wednesday, but I think hearty thanks will suffice.
As with all Lunches 2.0, it should be fun all by itself, but this one has another attraction. Robin Catesby (@mizd) and her husband Dave Molner (@chefchopper) will be catering the lunch.
You probably know Robin and Dave, who are regulars at Beer and Blog, WordCamp and other tech get-togethers, and I, for one, am geeked to sample their culinary delights.
Don’t miss this one. It’s going to be off the proverbial chain.
Oh, and don’t forgot to RSVP.
