Ignite Portland has been one of the seminal events for the startup and tech renaissance here in Portland. And it’s one of a handful of events that helped spark—pun intended—and codify a segment of the tech community in Portland proper.
But it’s also important to bear in mind that Ignite Portland is an entirely volunteer run conference. That takes its toll. And that is why the next iteration of the event—Ignite Portland 10—won’t be taking place until mid 2011 at the very earliest.
We love putting on Ignite Portland for everyone. It’s a total blast. But there’s a lot of work involved, and due to availability of some key volunteer organizers, the end of year holidays, as well as the general desire to catch our breath a little, we’ve decided to bump Ignite Portland 10 out into mid 2011 (instead of February). We don’t have a specific date in place yet, but when we do, we’ll be sure to post it here.
So you’ll have to hold your horses, if you’re aching to take the stage. But you might as well get your Ignite Portland 10 proposal submitted while you’re thinking about it.
