You hear me blather on and on about how awesome Portland is for startups. I mean, it’s really good. Like one of the most entrepreneurial places in the world. I mean it.
But how do the startups themselves feel about it? Well, the Portland Development Commission went out and talked to a few of them. And here’s what they said.

Portland is awesome for startups. The local vibe and creative spirit is perfect for entrepreneurship. We just posted about why we were launching in PDX on our blog http://marqetplace.wordpress.com/2011/10/25/we're-launching-in-portland/

Very cool video, I agree with much of what was said. Only a related note, I see that there was this “Startup:PDX” event yesterday which is tied to this video and the organizations behind it. What is disturbing is that as a startup co-founder/CEO and an organizer of a semi-annual startup event in Portland, I didn’t know anything about this “Startup:PDX” event until Rick posted a short blurb about it Wednesday night.
That said, are the PDC, SAO and OEN targeting the right people with this message? Sure, I am just 1 person, but no one in my network was talking about this Startup:PDX event.
If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a noise?
I am never leaving. Ever.
