There used to be a time when Portland didn’t have much of a support system for the startups here in town. But that’s starting to change.
The latest endeavor is a new startup incubator in Hillsboro, backed by TiE Oregon and Melvin Mark. Sound interesting? They’re opening the new space to the public on Thursday evening.
The TiE Westside Incubator is a program designed to accelerate the successful development of the companies of our members. An array of support services, developed by TiE Oregon, will be offered to entrepreneurs renting space in the incubator both on site and through our network of contacts. We will also have pitch sessions where members can pitch their ideas to angel investors. In addition to the space, each person joining the incubator will be assigned an individual Charter Member to work as a contact person and mentor for their startup.
The 3200 square foot space houses 18 furnished workstations. It is located at Suite 165, 19075 NW Tanasbourne Drive in Hillsboro.
The TiE Westside Incubator is currently accepting applications.
“The City of Hillsboro is excited to have TiE Oregon select Hillsboro as the site for its new incubator,” said Hillsboro Mayor Jerry Willey. “Fostering the growth and prosperity of entrepreneurs here in Hillsboro is a very important component of our economic development efforts. We appreciate the partnership that has been developed between TiE, Melvin Mark Companies and the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce. This is a perfect example of great collaboration that has resulted in the further development of our business community.”
This is the second recent startup effort for the City of Hillsboro. They also provided capital for the Portland Seed Fund.
The ribbon cutting and grand opening will be held Thursday, November 10, at 5:00 p.m.

Thanks for mentioning Rick. We are launching tomorrow with one startup already signed and several lined up to move in. Tie incubator not only offers a great space but access to TIE charter members and their mentoring. It’s an exciting new step for TIE to provide an anchor space for entrepreneurs who live and work on the Westside in Hillsboro. It’s in the heart of Silicon Forest. Please attend the opening tomorrow
