Please enjoy: Spend some time with Facebook Creative Director Ji Lee

Sure, there’s the data center out in Prineville. And the big open source project hosted at OSU Open Source Labs. But other than rumors of Zuckerberg swinging by the Rose City to purchase a pooch, most of Portland’s contact with Facebook have remained the online variety. Until now. Thanks to Merrick working a little magic.

You’ve heard of Facebook, right? It’s a social network.

Well, this Friday, Ji Lee—currently Creative Director for Facebook, formerly with Google Creative Labs—will be in town for private meetings with local startups. But as luck would have it, he’s also offered to spend some time Friday evening speaking to the public. And you’re invited.

At 5:00 p.m., doors will open to the public for a hosted adult happy hour with a dialogue and presentation regarding the transformative power of personal projects. Following the presentation will be a Q&A session between attendees and Ji—guests will have the opportunity to inquire about anything related to his career, life at Facebook, his newest project and anything of interest!

And while this may seem bit out of the ordinary to have one of the top brass at Facebook swinging through Portland, you should get used to this kind of thing. It’s just a glimmer of the forthcoming efforts Merrick—an extremely active Angel in the Portland startup scene who recently joined forces with equally active Angel Nitin Khanna to form merrickhanna ventures—has planned for the startup scene, here.

But that doesn’t mean you should skip this one. It promises to be a compelling and thought provoking evening. And it’s all graciously hosted by the folks at Urban Airship.
