Startup Communities makes another Boulder-Portland connection

Many of us in the startup scene keep an eye on Boulder, Colorado. As a town, they’ve done an amazing job of cultivating, attracting, and retaining startups that gives them arguably the highest entrepreneurial density anywhere in the world.

And at the core of this development is a venture capital firm called Foundry Group. Even if you don’t follow Boulder, you may recognize the name. Given that Foundry has put money into local startups Urban Airship and Cloudability.

One of the best things about the folks at Foundry is their willingness to share their knowledge. This resulted in things like the TechStars program. And the book Venture Deals: Be Smarter Than Your Lawyer and Venture Capitalist.

Now, Brad Feld of Foundry Group is sharing his knowledge on how to build a startup community in your own backyard. And as luck would have it, a Portland company—Simplifilm—is helping him spread the word.

For more on how this all came together, see the backstory on the Startup Communities trailer from Simplifilm. And please take the opportunity to purchase Startup Communities: Building an Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Your City.

  1. Luck? Hustle. ;-). Thanks for spreading the word, Rick.
