When your social stream becomes a transactional stream, you start to get some pretty interesting applications of commerce. And supporting good causes is no different. That’s why you’ll see Portland’s Chirpify as a key component of the MasterCard Dig In & Do Good: Stand Up to Cancer campaign.
You can participate in the “Dig In & Do Good” program by using your MasterCard® card to pay for a meal (e.g. fast food, fine dining, take-out, etc.) that is $10 or more between July 12, 2013 and September 28th, 2013. Each purchase will trigger a 1c donation to Stand Up to Cancer up to $4,000,000 which is funded by MasterCard. If you use your MasterCard card is enabled with PayPass, your donation is doubled. Each time you pay for your meal with MasterCard PayPass that is $10 or more will trigger a 2c donation funded by MasterCard to Stand Up To Cancer.
But there’s another way to help MasterCard hit that $4 million mark. And that’s where Chirpify comes into the picture. MasterCard is hoping to see some of that Dig In & Do Good funding raised via Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
MasterCard and Chirpify are partnering to offer the first ever in-stream hashtag donation campaign. Consumers will be able to donate with their MasterCard card directly to Stand Up To Cancer via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, enabled by Chirpify.
