There’s been a ton of discussion about “big data” from a corporate perspective. But how does it figure in with some of the biggest big datasets of all? New Relic is exploring that question in their next FutureTalk with Chris Reith of Socrata.
Chris works on Socrata’s GovStat initiative and recently served as a top advisor to Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, helping to evolve and build on Maryland’s StateStat performance measurement and management solution. Used by the State of Maryland to manage the vast majority of its agencies’ budget, and workforce, StateStat is credited with significant achievements in outcomes, including a 24.5% reduction in violent crime, and the nation’s number one rating for the state’s public school system.
The event will be held June 9 at the New Relic Portland office. Doors open at 5:30PM; the presentation starts at 7:00PM. As an added bonus, Hopworks Urban Brewery will be providing beverages. Free event. Free beer.
In addition to our FutureTalk with Chris, Hopworks Urban Brewery will be providing the beer – a re-launch of Gigabit IPA! Gigabit IPA was introduced in 2010 as part of a campaign surrounding the Google Fiber initiative. Hopworks is re-launching Gigabit IPA now because Portland is one of nine metro areas being considered for Google Fiber.
