Discuss the City of Portland’s use of AI

It’s difficult to escape the discussion of AI these days, as it continues to permeate all varieties of public and private life. The City of Portland isn’t immune. That’s why they’re convening a meeting to discuss the use of Artificial Intelligence in Portland, next week.

This event organized on May 16, 2024 is an open call to Portlanders interested on artificial intelligence and its use in local government, including experts on ethics, equity, and responsible technology. We will have dialogs and activities around how artificial intelligence should be used by the City of Portland.

“We are hoping that this conversation can be joined with diverse set of experiences and life views and experiences. Subject matter experts, community leaders, researchers, students, and individuals interested in this topic,” the City shared in an email.

“The main conclusions and recommendations of these conversations and dialogs will be compiled in a document to be released to the public within 30 days of the event and used for policy recommendations, strategies, plans, and future actions taken by the Smart City PDX program.”

The hybrid event takes place starting at 5:00PM on May 16. Attendees may gather at the Portland Building, but space is limited. Virtual attendance is available on Zoom.
