Years and years ago, I came to the realization that physical manifestations of technology — hardware and phones, specifically — were creating an incredible opportunity for creative exploration in how humans engage, house, and handle those technology platforms. And a lot of my thinking on that front was inspired by a local company called Grovemade.
My first exposure to Grovemade was the bamboo iPhone case they created — and their peer-to-peer collaboration with fellow Portland company Maple XO to create an iPhone case out of old skateboards. It was just one of those artistic pursuits that stuck with me.
Beautiful functional physical objects inspired by the technology that we use each and every day.
Over the years, they’ve continued to iterate on our surroundings and surrounding our technology with aesthetic. And now, that thinking has take on a much larger footprint by tackling a physical challenge around even more technology that we use day in and day out — the environment in which we sit and stand while we work.
We’ve been designing products for your workspace since 2014—the desk is a natural extension of that work. What took us so long? Well, it had to be perfect. We started and stopped twice before, but neither resulted in something we were proud to release. The third time was the charm—after another complete redesign, we got to a desk that we, and our discerning customers, would want to use.
The adjustable — and configurable — desk is available in maple, oak, and walnut, with the base model starting at $2200.

Is it made in the USA as Grovemade proudly declares?
To me the desk frame is made in China.
