Every year about this time, you start to feel it. It’s drawing near. The largest geeky Web event of its kind. A sort of pilgrimage for the Web types. Where they all head down to, well, Texas of all places. To hang out, attend sessions, and socialize with other people of their ilk. That’s right. I said “ilk.”
Yep, it’s true. The time is drawing near for SXSW interactive, once again. And it promises to be bigger and better than ever. But who from Portland is making the journey down south? Well, there’s no better way to find out—and draw the SXSW types out—than a social event. And that made tomorrow’s Beer and Blog Portland the perfect venue for a little get together.
What’s a SXSW, you ask?
SXSW® Interactive features five days of compelling presentations from the brightest minds in emerging technology, scores of exciting networking events hosted by industry leaders and an unbeatable line up of special programs showcasing the best new websites, video games and startup ideas the community has to offer. Join us March 2010 for the panels, the parties, the 13th Annual Web Awards, the ScreenBurn at SXSW Arcade, the Film and Interactive Trade Show and Exhibition, Microsoft BizSpark Accelerator at SXSW and, of course, the inspirational experience that only SXSW can deliver.
And each year, more and more Portlanders seem to be making the journey to Austin, TX, to attend. This year, I get the feeling that it’s going to be quite a contingent. And if you’re going, it would be nice to know who else from your hometown is going to be in attendance, wouldn’t it?
Well get ready to be happy.
Dawn Foster, a SXSW regular and adviser who has helped organize a gathering of all SXSW attendees and would-be attendees, this week at Beer and Blog.
Are you going to Austin for SXSW Interactive in March? Not going, but wish you were going and want to hang out with other geeks? Want to learn more about SXSW so that you can go next year? If the answer to any of those questions is yes, you should join us at a special pre-SXSW party at Beer and Blog on Friday, February 26th from 4pm – ??.
So whether you’re SXSW bound or simply SXSW curious, head on over to the Green Dragon, Friday night around 4 PM. It’s sure to be an interesting crowd.
