Mayor for a day: Join Whiffies and all your mayoral peers Saturday April 16 for Foursquare Day Portland 2011

Thanks to the efforts of an early entrant in the location app space, Shizzow, Portland was all primed and ready to fall in love with Foursquare—and begin donning mayors, left and right.

Our love of check ins is all well and good. But let’s be honest—even though Portland Mayor Sam Adams made it official—Portland isn’t the only place that loves Foursquare. So around the world on April 16, people will be celebrating Foursquare Day. Get it? 4/16? Four squared? And you’re invited for Portland’s own celebration.

Foursquare Day lasts ALL DAY. But the MAIN EVENT is this…

The big finish at Whiffies Fried Pies and Cartopia at SE 12th and Hawthorne!

Pies are $1 off and once the SuperSwarm badge is unlocked (250+ check ins) one name will be drawn for FREE PIE for a YEAR! (That’s 52 weeks of pie!)

El Rancho Viejo will be giving out $25 Gift Certificates to the 50th, 100th, 150th, 200th and 250th check in at Whiffies!

Also, ZZoom Media will be donating $1 to the Red Cross to support effort in the Japanese disaster relief for every check in at Whiffies Fried Pies on April 16th, 2011.

There are a bunch of other deals running throughout the day in Portland, as well.

So grab your phone, go check in a few places, grab a mayorship or two, and wind up at Whiffies to join in the celebration. And get your special Foursquare Day 2011 badge, of course.
