Reminder: Portland Development Commission Lunch 2.0 is Wednesday

It appears that Summer has arrived, which means lots of stuff to do, including a Lunch 2.0 at the Portland Development Commission (@pdxdevelopment) this coming Wednesday from 12-2 PM.

You won’t want to miss this one.

The PDC has been active lately, including tech as part of their Economic Development Strategy and polling Portland software community for input and information.

Last week, Eva Schweber (@EvaCatHerder) and Audrey Eschright (@spinnerin) started a Portland software community census to provide the City and the PDC with good demographic data to guide their policies.

Whiffies and Food Carts Portland featured on MSNBC, Strange Love Live gets a cameo

Especially because Whiffies’ strong Twitter presence. So it was great to see Whiffies, Food Carts Portland’s Dieselboi, and Strange Love Live getting love from MSNBC.

We’re a fairly tight-knit community here in the Portland startup scene. Even if those startups have nothing to do with tech.

One of the best examples? The Portland food cart scene. We know it’s awesome. And it’s also a primary source of sustenance that fuels any number of late night hacking session—or even daytime hacking session depending on the cart.

Arguably, there is no more beloved cart—at least by the local geeks—than Whiffies, the fried pie cart at Cartopia on SE Hawthorne. Especially because Whiffies’ strong Twitter presence.
