Portland loves its events. And it loves its open source. And nowhere do those two things segue more nicely than with Portland’s own Open Source Bridge, the entirely volunteer run conference for open source citizens.

You may have heard that Open Source Bridge recently announced the dates for this year’s event would be June 1-4. Now, they need interesting open source types to share their passion, their knowledge, and their insights about being a good open source citizen. And how about making one of those speakers you? Ignite Portland 7: It’s a slow burn

Sometimes, even the most well-organized events get thrown for a little loop.

And that’s exactly what happened to our friends over at Legion of Tech when the Bagdad—which has become the de facto home of Ignite Portland—was accidentally double booked. Which means they had to move the date. As Ignite Portland 7 will be taking place on November 19—one week later than expected.

But their loss is your gain. Or whatever. Not only do you get another week of breathless anticipation awaiting the next Ignite, you also get a one week extension on your ignite presentation proposals. Read More

if you’re doing some interesting things with Linux, Linux Plumbers is really interested in hearing you talk about it. But you have to submit your talk by June 15th.

Next week, we’ll dive headlong into the first ever Open Source Bridge conference. But that doesn’t mean Portland’s open source event fun is over for this year. We’ve got Linux Plumbers Conference and LinuxCon coming up in September.
