Get ready to rethink your wallet: db clay wallets are back… and taking inspiration from mobile design

Portland based db clay—the awesome duct tape wallet startup that went into hibernation in 2009—is coming out of its slumber with a mobile handset inspired re-invisioning of the wallet—with no more duct tape.

I’m telling you. There’s something about Portland and Kickstarter. It’s just a good cultural fit. And there’s something about Portland and mobile. Again, it just fits. You know what else fits Portland? That’s right. Creativity.

Now what if Kickstarter, mobile, and creativity all got together to create a better wallet? Well, now we can find out. You see, hometown favorite db claythe awesome duct tape wallet startup that went into hibernation in 2009—is coming out of its slumber with a mobile handset inspired re-invisioning of the wallet—with no more duct tape.

I realize db clay isn’t the usual fare for Silicon Florist. But I’ve got to be honest. Garett Stenson is a shrewd, wily, and nimble entrepreneurial type. And any startup would be wise to pay attention to what he’s doing.

Besides. It’s just a damn good startup story. Well, and restart story.

So what’s the new wallet line entail?

LINE 0.0 is a light, compact, slim and new Wallet body style produced by db clay. I designed this 4-pocket beauty to be as little as possible while still functioning as a Wallet should by carrying your daily essentials: ID, a few cards, cold hard cash and some misc items such as a public transit pass or a cute picture of your puppy. Overall, I was aiming to minimize back-pocket bulk but I also made it small enough to fit in a grab and go clutch or a fancy handbag too. I invented these Wallets for YOU to enjoy, but keep in mind, they also make great gifts for all the great folks in your life. Friends, family, coworkers, significant others, clients, etc.

Pretty cool right? Right.

So if you’re interested in helping db clay, grabbing a new wallet, or simply getting started on your holiday shopping a bit early, please consider supporting db clay’s Kickstarter campaign.
