Meet the Startup: Connecting with CPUsage

I know you. You’re working hard while you’re sitting at your computer. But what if your computer could be doing hard work for other hardworking folks while you’re away from the keyboard?

That’s the question that CPUsage is answering. It’s kind of like AirBnB or Second Porch for your latent processing power.

  1. Another perhaps unseen side effect…. Is nearly free home heating!

Every watt of electricity your computer uses doesn’t just vanish…. It comes out of the back of your computer as heat, warming the room it is in.

Providing CPusage pays enough to cover most of the electricity bill, its nearly free home heating as well as performing a usefull task, Getting twice the work out a given amount of energy!

So CPusage is also an awsome GREEN idea for warming our homes!

A good CPU power to cost ratio quiet PC giving out 200ish Watts of heat 24/7 in every room would be more than adequete for heating an entire home.

And likely would not cost much more than a good central heating system, and would double up as a PC in every room too 🙂

This is a marvelous concept. The science community has been doing this for years, starting with SETI@home.
