Portland did okay in the rankings. But something was gnawing at me. Like I needed some additional context. If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times. The “P” in PDX stands for “procrastination.” And as I’m as guilty as any for that sort of behavior, I always like to give folks a few last minute nudges to get stuff done. Like applying to be part of the SXSW Pitch competition.

When I moved to Portland from Austin three years ago I had heard about and was struck by the similarities between those two cities. There is a lot in common between Austin and Portland extending to outdoor living, environmental consciousness, education, overall culture, and active startup community.
