While Portland doesn’t have a Techstars program of its own anymore, we do have our fair share of alums from Techstars accelerators. What’s more, we have close friends who run a Techstars program not too terribly far away at Techstars Seattle. And those friends will be in town next week to answer all of your questions about the Techstars program. Read More

This is why you bet on people: Chroma now enables any Oregonian to be an investor through Chroma.fund
It’s a phrase that has become almost platitudinal in early stage startup circles—especially when it comes to investors. “We don’t invest in companies. We invest in people.” But just because it’s overused doesn’t prevent it from being true. And today, with the launch of Chroma.fund, the team at Chroma proved why. Read More

Revving up: Portland Jaguar Land Rover incubator gains momentum with PDC, Drive Oregon
While Portland has a bunch of awesome organizations designed to incubate and accelerate startup activity, we haven’t seen a consumer brand backed accelerator on the scene for nearly three years, since the Nike+ Accelerator powered by TechStars. That’s why I’ve been monitoring the progress on the Jaguar Land Rover incubator with bated breath. And I’m happy to report, they’re continuing to gain momentum. Read More
Startups thrive on stress, right? Awesome. Here are four deadlines you're in danger of missing.
I know, I know. You’ve got a lot on your startup plate. You’re building. You’re hustling. You’re hustling your build. And you’re building your hustle. Heads in the clouds: Portland's Cloudability shares its startup story
Arguably, Cloudability has been one of the most successful Portland startups to emerge in the last couple of years. And they’ve done so by successfully leveraging a number of opportunities that have come their way. Starting out of borrowed space in Puppet Labs, joining PIE, taking funding from Portland Seed Fund and local angels, joining TechStars, and getting investment from 500 startups. Read More
