Thinking Techstars? Join Portland's Techstars alums and Techstars Seattle to get your questions answered

While Portland doesn’t have a Techstars program of its own anymore, we do have our fair share of alums from Techstars accelerators. What’s more, we have close friends who run a Techstars program not too terribly far away at Techstars Seattle. And those friends will be in town next week to answer all of your questions about the Techstars program. Read More

This is why you bet on people: Chroma now enables any Oregonian to be an investor through Chroma.fund

It’s a phrase that has become almost platitudinal in early stage startup circles—especially when it comes to investors. “We don’t invest in companies. We invest in people.” But just because it’s overused doesn’t prevent it from being true. And today, with the launch of Chroma.fund, the team at Chroma proved why. Read More

Startups thrive on stress, right? Awesome. Here are four deadlines you're in danger of missing.

I know, I know. You’ve got a lot on your startup plate. You’re building. You’re hustling. You’re hustling your build. And you’re building your hustle. TechStars curious? Get your questions answered in person by TechStars Seattle and Portland area TechStars alums

While Portland is host to a number of awesome accelerators, our startups have also done their fair share of succeeding in accelerator programs outside of Portland. Most notably Y Combinator and TechStars. And when the timing is right, these leading accelerator programs can propel startups further faster than they ever thought possible. That’s why I’m psyched to have TechStars Seattle swinging by Portland for a little Q&A. Read More

Soft landing: Portland startup Glider acquired by FPX, product to continue

Startups move quickly these days. Portland startup Glider was no exception. The formation, rapid ascent, and exit of Glider—a startup that worked to help streamline the tangled mess of contracts, signatures, and approvals—took only a couple of years to complete the cycle. And today, with an acquisition by Dallas-based FPX, Glider moves on to its next phase, where it will continue its work as part of a larger entity with access to more resources. Read More

Catching up with Vizify: Cofounder Todd Silverstein talks to TechStars TV

There are a growing number of TechStars alums in town—Cloudability, Glider, Factor, the companies from the Nike+ Accelerator—but the first Portland company to really make the leap into a TechStars program was Vizify, who managed to juggle both TechStars and the Portland Seed Fund simultaneously. Heads in the clouds: Portland's Cloudability shares its startup story

Arguably, Cloudability has been one of the most successful Portland startups to emerge in the last couple of years. And they’ve done so by successfully leveraging a number of opportunities that have come their way. Starting out of borrowed space in Puppet Labs, joining PIE, taking funding from Portland Seed Fund and local angels, joining TechStars, and getting investment from 500 startups. Read More
