We, as a global community, have been under a ton of pressure and stress over the past two years. Global pandemics have a way of doing that. But stress and burnout were issues in the workforce long before that. With the tech and startup communities doing more than their fair share of burning through talent. But most of that, while vaguely understood, has been largely anecdotal. Which is why I’m always happy to see efforts that attempt to quantify the effects. Like The State of Burnout in Tech report.

Rise of the Rest charts Portland among top 20 cities where Bay Area and New York VCs are investing outside their region
Raising capital is hard. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. It’s just difficult. And when you have to go outside of town for that capital, that makes it exponentially more challenging — and complex. But if this recent report from Rise of the Rest tells us anything, it’s that Portland startups are doing a decent job of dealing with that additional complexity. And landing early stage capital from outside of the state.
