It’s always nice to see other organizations recognizing the depth of talent we have in our midst here in the Portland startup community. And being part of that community, it’s highly likely that you’ve had the opportunity to encounter Paige Hendrix Buckner. She was a serial Portland startup founder, cofounder of XXcelerate Fund, instrumental with the development of the TiE youth entrepreneur program TYE, cohosted TechfestNW, and — as if that weren’t enough — has been a tireless mentor to any number of founders in town. It’s always nice to see local entrepreneurs building a successful company — especially when they continue to remain contributors and stewards of community in Portland. Such is the case with Nat Parker, cofounder of Portland startup Globesherpa, which was acquired by Daimler in 2015.
Getting on stage can be scary. Telling people about your startup can be scary. So it only stands to reason that applying to do both of those things would have a scary due date. Like tomorrow. That’s when you have to have your Pitch Oregon application done.
Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the TiE Oregon Pitch Oregon 2017 event, this year. But luckily for you, Malia Spencer, who covers startups for the Portland Business Journal, was there to hear the 10 companies pitch the panel of judges and audience—and to reveal the winners.
