Among the “That’s a Portland company?” products that I use on a regular basis, Subatomic Studios Fieldrunners has to be right near the top. And I’m only willing to admit that because I know I’m far from alone in that regard. Another iPhone app that tops the list of favorites? Air Sharing from Vancouver’s Avatron. And then, of course, there’s Portland’s Stanza which was acquired by Amazon.

One of the most widely read yet least often recognized as a product of the good old Silicon Forest has to be MetaFilter, the quintessential Weblog of random facts and finds. And while we should be proud of MetaFilter as a product of Oregonian ingenuity for any number of reasons, I’ve got one more reason to add to the list: MetaFilter just turned 10 years old.
