Another startup focused nonprofit joins the ranks of those seeking new leadership

Blame it on the “Great Resignation” or whatever you will. We’ve seen a ton of turnover recently in the world of local foundations — which provide critical financial support for Portland’s nonprofit community. But now we’re also seeing similar behavior in the ranks of the nonprofits themselves. And that could cause yet another ripple in what’s already turning out to be a rocky environment for a Portland startup community struggling to recover from the effects of a multiyear pandemic amidst an economic downturn.

Community kudos: Amanda Oborne, OEN

Amanda’s efforts and leadership of Oregon Entrepreneurs Network (OEN) over the past nine months have created incredible opportunities for Oregon-based startups. Her partnerships with Oregon Venture Fund (OVF), Business Oregon, and many other investor and mentor groups have revitalized the Portland startup scene in what has been a challenging year. She doesn’t do what she does for the money (though maybe she should) or the fame, and it shows. We’re all learning a lot from Amanda this year.

Angel Oregon Tech announces TechfestNW pitch finalists

April showers bring May startup pitch competitions: TechfestNW is back

It seems like only yesterday that we were judging startups as part of the first full virtual TechfestNW, the annual destination event for startups and the startup curious, organized by Willamette Week. Because it was practically yesterday. But now, TFNW is back for a one day event in May 2021.
