Summer in Portland feels a little slower. But you wouldn’t be able to tell that from the number of jobs open, right now. Even the Silicon Florist job board is getting sort of hectic, as of late. So who’s hiring?
It’s always interesting to watch the ebb and flow of the Silicon Florist job board. It’s a great barometer for what’s happening in both the Portland startup community and the broader Portland ecosystem. So who’s hiring these days? Take a look.
I know I usually share jobs via the newsletter. Or via the job board. But this one deserved a blog post. Because it’s a big opportunity to support startups and entrepreneurs throughout our state. The Oregon Entrepreneurs Network is looking for a new executive director.
When it comes to assessing the health of an ecosystem, startup or otherwise, rather than focusing on the financial aspects — like venture capital or exits — I like to take a look at the metrics of the job market. A bunch of open jobs filling quickly? Healthy. Few jobs or jobs remaining open for long periods of time? Maybe not so healthy.
It’s nothing new to announce that you’re looking for a new gig. And maybe it’s just happenstance. Or maybe it’s just the new year. But I’ve had a couple of tweets in my stream lately featuring talented folks who are looking for a new job. Likes and retweets will only go so far — and knowing how critical finding good talent is — I thought I’d share a few of them here. (And if there are others I should include, please let me know.)
It’s almost the new year. And for many folks, that means it’s prime time to search for a new job. If you’re in that boat, there are a number of startup companies — and established companies like Nike and Stumptown — that are looking to hire.
